Michael--a good post, good blog--and very flattering to see myself referred to. I'm at Booz &Company now, where we've been doing some stuff that I think advances the state of thinking about how to turn the understanding of the importance of intangibles into acapabilities-driven strategy. The June issue of HBR has an article, "The coherence Premium" that sets out some of these ideas, and there is more behind it.

Mike,

Good note. In your view, who in the corporate structure is the ideal owner of 'risk culture' advocacy? HR, Risk Management, CFO, CEO, or perhaps a CFO doppleganger charged with the intangibles?

Cheers,

Nir

Thank you for your posts about this subject. IFRS are something we all enjoy discussing.

Although there are a considerable number of different sides on the issue, it is still wonderful that you have provided this site and opinion.

A view of the problems encountered in migration between GAAP and IFRS could make for some engrossing reading.

There are a good many supporters on either side regarding IFRS convergence. However, the ramifications are cause for concern, especially whenever the US SEC speaks and thousands of companies are impacted.

I do actually enjoy visiting often your blog and appreciate the content, although I must admit that most things we don't agree on.

Do you consider US GAAP to IFRS convergence something you plan on discussing in further detail via a toe to toe?

Great Blog. Despite the importance of intellectual assets in overall company's valuation, most companies lack tools to identify and exploit their IP assets. For them to understand and implement ERM, I think they need to first create a repository of IP assets which can be shared with the right internal/external teams. As you pointed out, continous monitoring of their "value" is essential as well.
